From our entertainment correspondent in Mtwange
In a terrible freak accident just before last night's Afro Vision '72 final headline performance, the musical entry for the Democratic People's Republic of Mbote, popular jazz funk band Hakuna Talanta, were tragically wiped out.
According to eyewitness statements, the band had decided on a last minute rehearsal on the balcony of their fifteenth storey penthouse suite, when a technical malfunction of their instruments caused all four members of the band to be simultaneously electrocuted.
This unfortunately resulted in the band being entangled in the electrical leads of their instruments, which then made them lose their balance and fall from the hotel balcony, into the swimming pool below.
This might have saved them from further injury, were it not for the swarm of ravenous crocodiles that had somehow found their way through a perimeter fence into the pool.
With the tragic loss of the Mbote contestants to the Afro Vision Final contest, the contest title has been awarded by default to the only other entry, the disco funk band Sauti Kawizi of the Democratic People's Republic of Zubuto!
Trying to work out the Sauti Kawizi pronunciation to identify the in-house joke but cannot see it - please enlighten me. By the way in mourning for Hakuna Talanta - no hiding which side I support there then!
ReplyDeleteWas really pulling for Talanta...
ReplyDeleteUnfortunate, but it happens.
ReplyDeleteSwahili for tone deaf (apparently)😁
ReplyDeleteMade me snort my tea onto the keyboard. Classic stuff.
ReplyDeleteYou need "Tout a Coup" - the jazz/funk fusion band of Thomas Sankara and Blaise Campaore. Possibly the most acrimonious band split in history as it triggered a coup d'état and the murder of Sankara...
