Colours 2011

We had a good time at Colours today, even though I came away with a meagre bag full or goodies. I really couldn't find anything that grabbed my attention enough to warrant spending any cash. There were plenty of nice things to buy but even my usual purchases from Pendraken and Peter Pig, for example, failed to materialise.

I did, however, pick up a bargain bundle of the Impetus rules and one of the supplements for £30, which doesn't sound like much of a deal but is actually £10 less than the asking price. The Impetus rules have been recommended by a chap at the club so, although they're expensive for what you get, I thought I'd make the most of the special offer.

I also bought two packs of the new Artizan French Foreign Legion figures in sun helmets for use in the Heart of Africa. They are much bigger than the Dixon figures that I already have, despite being sculpted by the same designer, but match very well with the Foundry Darkest Africa range. I hope that Artizan now bring out some Tiralleurs Senegalese and other French troops?

Finally, we all enjoyed a game of Tusk run by Kev Addams of the Lincombe Barn Wargames Society. This was a 28mm set up using Copplestone and Grenadier (EM4) caveman figures alongside Primeaval Designs and Trent Miniatures mammoths, sabre tooth tigers and other beasties. It was an excellent game and the boys really enjoyed it. Nice one chaps!

  1. Damn, must have walked past the Artizan FFL to get to the non-existant ACW... :-(

  2. They were hidden away on the triangular rack thing on the central table. A bit out of the way to say the least.
