It's been a tough decision but...

Nice Terrain - not sure about the figures though?
I've been deep in thought of late and have come to the inevitable conclusion that wargaming just isn't enough for me. It's been a long hard road but the realisation that I'll never finish anything despite my best efforts, has finally hit home. It's time I stopped pretending and owned up to the fact that I'm just not interested in wargaming anymore. In fact, something far more exciting has crossed my gaming horizon, offering genuine tactical depth and unparalleled strategic vision.

I'm selling off all my painted armies and unpainted lead on ebay, so you can grab a few bargains if you check out my auction listings over the next couple of weeks. I'll be keeping some lead back to melt down for re-casting, but everything else is up for grabs. I could go for the Shapeways option but I don't think the material will be heavy enough, especially as the castings will have to comply with the official competition scale specifications.

This is Version 3.2...it's got the new rules in it and everything.
I've decided to invest in some software, so that I don't have to lug around the rulebook to every game. I think I'll be able to run some of them as apps on the Kindle HD but, if not, I can always print and play. It'll save me the cost of the flashy full colour hardback rulebook, which is very pricey unless you are lucky enough to pick up an older edition on ebay. I'm starting a new blog too, with a new alter ego as Jim just doesn't sound quite right, as you can see from the front page below:

That's me on the left
I'm also thinking of writing some of my own rules for the game, incorporating the experience I've built up over the years when writing scenarios for various rule sets. I'm sure a few club modifications would be acceptable and would definately add something to the game play. I've got plenty of ideas but I'm stuck for a title, although I have been thinking of Kampfgruppe Petanque: Normandy or perhaps SS Obersturmboulefuhrer 3 but I reckon Flames of Boule just has the edge..

What do you think?

  1. Hopefully the Minister of the Interior hasn't seen this and made plans for all that liquidated white metal!

  2. Kampfgruppe Pétanque - surely deserves to be a best seller. Black and silver uniforms for the bad guys? RRP £48? Jim, you've got a winner on your hands dear chap!
