The figures for my revived Ronin project arrived from Perry Miniatures yesterday and I've wasted no time unpacking them and sorting them into buntai. This is the first buntai and consists of seven katana armed martial artists of a Koryu or martial arts school. The seventh figure with the slotta base tab is actually an EM4 samurai that I already had and is a perfect match for the beautiful Perry samurai in everyday clothing. There's another unarmoured figure of a ronin in the EM4 range so I'm going to order one to add to the existing buntai to make the numbers up to a round eight. These are stunning models and way better than the Northstar official figure range so I only hope my painting will do them justice!
Hi sir I'm trying to find your Pulp Sub to see how it turned out it sounded like great idea:) injust having bit of problem finding the rest. If you could help thanks so much. Grey in Va. USA
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip about Perry Miniatures's samurai, they look great. Being a long-time Kurosawa fan, I've finally ordered a copy of Osprey's Ronin rules, & was wondering about which miniature range to go for. I was also considering Peter Pig's very nice looking samurai range, although I'm not sure if 15mm scale figures are suitable for the rules.
ReplyDeleteHi Grey,
ReplyDeleteI didn't get round to building the sub in the end as my cunning plans didn't work (not the first time!). I'm still on the look out for a suitable toy to convert though!
Yes, I thought about using Peter Pig figures too...no reason why they wouldn't work, although you'd need to find some peasants from somewhere for scenarios.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with these, they really are cracking miniatures. I had a fabulous time trying to create the Seven Samurai in greyscale with them.
