The Frigates

I read this excellent book many years ago but, as I'm about to start assembling two Napoleonic fleets in 1/2400th scale including several frigates both light and heavy, I thought I'd read it again. It really is stirring stuff and absolutely spot on for potential scenarios featuring no more than a handful of ships and often only two. Brilliant!

  1. A great read and lots of scenario ideas. There’s a second book in the series covering smaller ships too.

  2. I have it too also have 'Duels of the Fleet' by Money Coutts which is all single ship actions - not sure what the overlap between the two is...

  3. After reading your post I found myself quit unexpectedly at the Amazon website. Suddenly I was the proud owner of this book, and discovered that I could not stop reading. :-)

Though my era of interest in wargaming is modern, I was pulled in by the author of this book. It is well written and describes relevant details about the Frigates. I expect I will follow up with the books mentioned by Peter and Rob.

    Thanks for sharing.

  4. I originally read it as the first past of Frigates, Sloops and Brigs, which I still have a paperback copy of somewhere.
