I'm taking a break from reading air warfare books and instead have dipped into this classic account of the war in North Africa, through the lens of a Crusader Mk III tank commander in 1942. It is a very evocative and revealing autobiographical narrative, which doesn't pull its punches or shy away from the ugly side of the conflict, yet always seems to have an informal, almost conversational tone which makes it all the more readable. It really is a great book and well worth a few hours of your time.
Have you read 'Brazen chariots' or 'the gods were neutral' good books on the same subject
ReplyDeleteNo but I'll give it a look. Thanks for the tip.
DeleteTanks Across The Desert is also an excellent read
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul
DeleteSands of Valour (I think) is really atmospheric, and is the only novel I have ever read which had A10s in it!
ReplyDeleteThe one on your book looks like a Matilda?
Colkitto
Yes, it's a propaganda poster, so I guess they just picked one with a tank in it!?
