Trying Out Find, Fix and Strike

A slightly tweaked scenario from DM

I've got one more Bag the Hun scenario to play test before I take a break from air wargaming and dip back into naval waters. I thought I'd have a go at setting up a trial game of Find, Fix and Strike, as a change from modern or ironclad naval wargaming, as I am planning to paint up another 1/3000th scale fleet later this year to use against my existing French WW2 fleet.

As I don't yet have any Italians, British, Germans or even Japanese, I'm going to fall back on some really nice but very small Hallmark 1/6000th scale models that I painted a couple of years ago for a replay of the Battle of the Denmark Straits. These include HMS Hood, HMS Prince of Wales, the Prinz Eugen and the Bismarck, so I'm all ready to go.

I originally used Victory at Sea to play a scenario that David Manley suggested but I'm not keen on the rules, so I'm going to have another go, this time using Find, Fix and Strike which I think will be much more my cup of tea. I'm planning to get this sorted tomorrow and I'm hoping it will be as enjoyable as the other Long Face Games rules that I've used, giving my WW2 naval projects a firm shove in the right direction!

  1. Denmark Strait is a good quick battler for these rules. I like the rules and plan to use them with some upcoming Mediterranean actions in 1/6000.

I did a Pacific night action with the rules a couple years ago (https://seanavalgazing.blogspot.com/2019/08/2019-international-naval-wargaming-day.html).

  2. That's an interesting game indeed...I'm also thinking of some Med actions but with a 'What If?' mid-30's twist.
