Along with everything else, the price of wargames figures is going up, which is not the manufacturers fault but inevitable due to overheads, costs and probably Brexit too. I remembered last night that Peter Pig were raising their basic pack price from £3.75 to £4.10, so quickly sent off an order for two Tabors worth of Moorish infantry for my SCW project. That will have to be it for the moment, as I have enough lead to equip both the Republicans and Nationalists, so can't really justify or afford any more. I wonder where this will all end?
It will all end with some beautifully painted figures and a great game of FWTDR
ReplyDeleteI hope so...looking forward to the painting!
DeletePrices rises are inevitable in an industry where the raw materials and energy costs are all going up by significant amounts. I suspect it's going to make plastics and home 3D printing even more competitive. I'm a leadhead so I hope we don't see an exodus away from metal, but I suspect it all depends on where prices go in the next few years.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's my concern, especially for small manufacturers like PP, who are committed to lead.
DeleteI brought forward a project due to the Peter Pig price rises. Thankfully all my AK47 armies are complete. Most manufacturers that make 15mm now seem to have them retailing about 50p a mini and that makes me wince! As already noted, I think 3D printing is the future.
ReplyDeleteI think the days of inexpensive wargaming in metal are coming to a crunch point, so hope manufacturers like PP don't decide to pack up
