I nabbed a second hand Navwar 1/3000th scale battle pack for the Battle of Cape Matapan on eBay yesterday, with a small but not insignificant discount. At first glance, this might seem a bit daft, as I already have a painted Italian fleet and a lead pile of Royal Navy warships from Davco to use. However, there is a logic to my actions, as I can paint up the Italians in the post-1939 scheme, complete with camouflage patterns and air recognition stripes, while the Royal Navy ships can be painted up likewise. This also allows me to use the excellent Flight Decals sheets for the carrier, HMS Formidable, which will add a bit of precision to the overall finish. Not only that, I can actually wargame the battle itself!
Lovely, I had just yesterday put it into an order form. Your pictures also gave me the answer I otherwise had to phone and ask - when it for example stood "Pola & Gorizia" is that both or not, since some say "x2"? So a great thank you for this timely post!
ReplyDeletePS. Is it impossible to email the order form? Fax isn't all too easy now a days :P
Yup, you can't email it. I properly snail mailed my order last week, postage stamp and all. Made me feel young and old at the same time :)
DeleteHaha, well I do guess we all like history after all... I found a fax program for the computer that handled it for 1£. Living within the EU makes snail mail a bit of a hassle in not knowing when within a month or two the money would be withdrawn, and having to pay about 10£ in a "Make EU great again" fee for each package, the order is naturally on the larger side.
DeleteHi Jens, I think the Navwar ordering system is firmly stuck in the 1980's, so I'm not sure you can email.
