Bag the Hun Club Game

I ran a very enjoyable game of Bag the Hun at the club yesterday using one of the scenarios from my Red Star Rampant article in the 2021 Lard Mag. This was a last man standing set up, with three Japanese aces in obsolete Ki-10 biplanes up against nine experienced Soviet pilots in Il-10 fighters.

The game went down to the wire in the end, with the Japanese losing one aircraft but the Soviets losing three, two in the last couple of turns to wing failure and catastrophic structural damage. The man of the match was the Junior Ace Lt Okamoto, who with canopy smashed and guns jammed, smashed his plane into a Soviet fighter to bring it down, both pilots successfully bailing out.

It was a good game and the players, most of whom were new to the game or had only played once before, really enjoyed it. There were some requests for another game at some point, preferably Battle of Britain or similar, so I'll need to get the 1/600th Finest Hour models finished at some point or dig out my old 1/285th scale aircraft for a follow on game. Banzai!

  1. Fantastic, and I really like your flight stands which look very neat. I've never played BTH, but I really like the narrative detail that seems to be included, besides I always have a love of those human stories - I assume young Lt Okamoto will be getting a gong for his bravery
