I've been working on a new army list and political flow chart for AK47 (2006 edition) over the last week or so. The idea is to allow the use of a post colonial, withdrawal from Empire style force, based on the British in Aden, Malaya or Kenya, or the French in Algeria, Chad and similar hot and sticky places.
The basic restrictions are as follows:
Professionals 1-2
Regulars 0-3
Militia 0-2
No tanks are allowed (unless gained by political manoeuvre)
Militia cannot use armoured cars or APC's (as above)
The compulsory professional unit is a Special Forces SAS type team, made up of either four S/A groups with helicopter insertion Or a unit of three HMG armed recce vehicles, probably jeeps or land rovers. One of the S/A groups in the first option may be a sniper team, for which rules are available in the AK47 supplement (or I may just work some out). The Regular units are national service or conscripted troops, while the militia are local government 'friendly' forces, constabulary or similar.
