Arrived in Stargard today for a wedding over the weekend. A really interesting place which was besieged several times during the Thirty Years War as the Swedes and Imperialists campaigned against each other for control of Pomerania. There's quite a bit of the town wall and defensive gateways left, including the Red Tower, supposedly named either after a particularly nasty skirmish action nearby or after several convicts were chucked off the top and hit the pavement underneath! All very typical of the Thirty Years War but still pretty gruesome.
Hurra, when I saw the colour codes, I just knew it must be from one of our (Swedish) European tours [of plunder, pillage, bringing misery and some quite impressive warfare] 😋
