I've been working away on the test bases for the 2mm English Civil War project, with the grass now painted and the figures blocked in with Vallejo Matt Black. I wasn't sure about the grass effect, which involved Vallejo Bright Olive Green and Lime Green, followed by a wash in Citadel Camo Green Ink, but it's growing on me now. I'll be following the Roundwood method to paint the figures, with perhaps a white basecoat followed by nice bright colours to make the units really stand out.
Really interested in this project, Jim - I bought some IM ECW/30YW stuff a couple pf years back but was never happy with the results. I'll be looking at your approach with interest as I'd love to game the ECW. Also be interested on how you get on with the rules. BTW - BT engineer came to today and the dog didn't kill him, so back online - expect more comments ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's got a lot of potential I think, especially with the OHW rules that I'm going to use in a modified form. I've already sketched out some tweaks to one of the ECW variants and have some ideas for a simple campaign system. Good to hear about the internet being up and running soon 👍
