Air War East Africa

A couple of second hand hardback books this weekend, one from the local charity shop and the other from eBay, destined for a potential Bag the Hun scenario writing effort. I actually have six Blenheim IV bombers painted in No14 Squadron markings, so that's a good excuse to do something with them, although I have written a couple of North Africa scenarios before.

  1. For something really esoteric you could look at the 1941 Anglo-Iraqi War. The Iraqis had Gloster Gladiators, Breda 65s, Savoia SM 79s, Northrop/Douglas 8As, Hawker Harts and Vickers Vincents, later supplemented by Luftwaffe Heinkel He 111s and Messerschmitt Bf 110s in Iraqi markings.

The RAF had Gloster Gladiators, Hawker Audaxs, Fairey Gordons, Hawker Harts and Blenheims - and even resorted to using Tiger Moths on ground attack sorties!

It would make good use of your desert mat ;-)

  2. I have a book about that somewhere...I think. Really unusual mix of kit and some great potential!
