No Show

I've decided not to go to Colours today, which I had been looking forward to, mainly because I'm skint at the moment. As I work freelance, I don't get paid over the summer and also get paid in arrears, so there's nothing coming in this month either. Added to that, we have to buy the offspring a car now he's passed his driving test, so that's going to soak up a fair bit of the bank balance this month as well.

To be honest, I'd only buy stuff that I didn't really need and the thought of traipsing around the notoriously sweaty venue, with hundreds of overweight middle aged bearded men, myself included, all crowded in to a relatively small space on the hottest day of the century, wasn't particularly attractive. Oh well, I'll just have to save up for the Naval Wargames Weekend and Warfare instead.

  1. It happens. Although I like to see the games at a show there's nothing more frustrating to me to see all the shiny figures and models available yet have no ready cash to spend.

  2. That’s a very sensible decision, especially if it’s likely to the hottest day of the year.

I think that one reaches a stage when going to wargame shows no longer makes much sense. I generally go to those where I’m likely to meet up in person and chat with the wargamers I’ve met online. In fact, I cannot remember the last time I spent more than £10 at a show.

Good luck buying a new car for your offspring and hopefully that your income stream will recover soon so that you can spoil yourself with some wargame purchases soon.

    All the best,

    Bob

    1. Thanks Bob,

I enjoy catching up with people far more than browsing the traders these days. I was hoping to have a chat with a few people this time but will have to wait until a later show now.

  3. From the sounds of it I made the right choice, as it was roasting!

  4. I think you will have dodged a bullet given the stifle and smell that would have been generated.
