After some doubts about how this system would actually work in practice, I think I might give it a go using my very nice but otherwise unused desert aerial mouse mat cloth that I got for my birthday way back at the start of the year. I will need to scale up the templates to 30mm or perhaps make some bespoke 1'' hex flight stands just for the East Africa project, but other wise it's a simple switch from hex to hexless movement and manoeuvres. It's worth a try and would mean that I could use the desert cloth for some Bag the Hun games rather than just Wings at War, as originally intended.
I'm slowly dipping my toes into aerial wargaming because biplanes are pretty darn cool!
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking alot about using templates for movement, much like Gaslands does. Is this a whack idea?
Not at all. Check out Table Air Combat on Wargame Vault
DeleteI was anti hexmat, But the templates work a treat with unhexed playing surfaces
ReplyDeleteIt's an intriguing idea and I'm keen to try it out myself
