Exeter, Ajax and Achilles

Now that I have the Graf Spee painted and ready for action it seemed like a good idea to continue with the three warships required for a Battle of the River Plate game. Here we have the three cruisers in question - HMS Exeter, HMS Ajax and HMNZS Achilles - all the old Davco castings but still not too bad despite their vintage. It won't take long to get these painted and based I think.

  1. River Plate and Denmark Strait are my go-to engagements when I want to test a new set of WW2 rules as they always show any deficiencies. I'm sure you'll have fun with these Jim.

Also, much as I have a great deal of fondness for Navwar, I always felt that Davco mouldings had better proportions and captured the character better - the Graf Spee model being a good example, being a lot 'beamier' than the Navwar model

  2. I much prefer the Davco castings for the same reason although some show their age a bit. Navwar ones aren't bad but some of the modern range are very ropey. Shame Davco are more expensive these days.
