Bag the Hun Russian Front [8]

I've spent the last half an hour or so working out some stats for the Fw189, using the Bag the Hun 2 rules and the 'Aaah Condor' article, as a starting point. The Fw189 A-2 had a maximum speed of around 220 mph so that equates to a SPD rating of 5 rounding up for effect, so not too bad. It was also very agile for it's design, so I've set a MAN rating of 7* to give it the ability to wiggle it's way out of trouble.

The ALT rating is 5 although this is academic given the low level at which it will be flying in the scenario, with an average ROC of 2. Of greater importance is the ROB factor, which is a pretty substantial 4 thanks to the extra armour plating that was installed to protect vital sections of the airframe, despite the extensive glazing and flimsy looking design. This was a bit of a surprise to me but these things seem to have been well liked by their crews for survivability.

The SIZ rating will be a 3 in line with similar aircraft and to reflect the twin boom design. The FF are also a bit of a surprise, given a relatively light forward armament of 2 x 7.92mm MG17's but with two twin 7.92mm MG18Z machine guns in flexible mounts to the rear. This gives a Forward FF of 2 but a Rear FF of 4, so a bit of a sting in the tail for any over ambitious Soviet fighter pilot. The forward firing guns will get an AMMO LIMIT of 12.
