I've been doing some more number crunching for the Thud Ridge project and have finalised the fighter and fighter bomber component, as follows. There will 8 x F-105 Thunderchief fighter bombers as the strike element, with 2 x F-105 Wild Weasels for SAM suppression. I will also have 8 x F-4 Phantoms for top cover and, as an alternative, 8 x F-100 Super Sabers, with a couple of the Phantoms also doubling up as additional Wild Weasels. It's quite a lot to paint up but with a production line approach it's still manageable, giving me all whistles and bells I could wish for in one go.
Nice- pretty much what I've got except that megalomania got the better of me and I got a B52 and some skywarriors to act as EW assets.

I'm resisting the temptation to get a B52 but have some FAC and recon planes lined up, as well as some for ELINT.
ReplyDeleteIt makesa great centrepiece to my collection but it is rather impractical in the game. B57s could be an interesting addition to your collection too. pretty sure I've got some of those somewhere.
