I've been experimenting with painting the cockpits of the Soviet aircraft in a more precise, realistic way rather than just blocking the whole thing in with blue shades. The models are surprisingly detailed, so it's not too difficult to just pick out the glazing panels then add a highlight. This is the first attempt on an I-16 and it's not too bad, even though with a bit more focus I can probably make it pop a bit more. It takes more time but I think it might be worth it in the end (bear in mind that the models are still shiny after the ink wash but will dull down once I've Matt varnished them after the decal stage).
