Bag the Hun Khalkhin Gol Playtest Progress

I'm now about to start the fifth turn of the play test game for Scenario G, having had to pause the game today due to other unavoidable commitments. Its been pretty frenetic so far, with the tight formations of both sides scattered all over the place in the swirling dogfight, although the Japanese have managed to hold their shotai together a little more than the Russians. I won't reveal the current state of play but it's still very much all on the balance, with the Japanese just having the edge, although that could all change very quickly. I'll finish playing the scenario tomorrow, as it takes quite a long time to cycle through the twenty five cards in the deck when playing solo!

  1. It really seems you have done a wonderful background job for the Khalkhin Gol. If you put as much into it as it seems, and put it on print for your club anyway, I think it would also be really nice and hopefully not too much of extra work for you, if you would publish them just as the "Merry Chrismas, Mr Sankara" was done by the splendid Nick and Henry Jones.

It's actually you and them that got me into flights, and not only ships :)

  2. I'm thinking or either writing it all up for the Lard Mag or writing an article and scenarios for Wargames, Soldiers and Strategy magazine?

    1. It is of cause nice to support magazines, because it's not easy to fill them up every month or quarter. But personally I really dislike the times I've purchased addons, rules or campaigns through the digital magazines, and they have special programs to be allowed to read them that makes it an awful experience! (they don't even allow me to print out the specific pages...). If I instead purchase something on Wargamevault, it's in PDF and I can print it out and copy paste things to make my own quick info pages.

But maybe it could be published in both ways? Exclusive in the magazine, and a few months later at Wargamevault?

In any case, thank you for having the idea to publish it! You are a great inspirer to me, and very often makes me want to both paint and play. Those kicks I get are important for me to get going :)

    2. I'll have a think...I'd rather it was in the Lard Mag, as that would get to more players but I'll have a think. Thanks for your kind words.
