I decided to push the timeframe of my French pre-dreadnought project a bit, with the addition of the armoured cruiser Jeanne d'Arc, launched in 1899 but not commissioned until 1903. As the earlier cruiser Dupuy de Lome isn't available from Tumbling Dice, this is my only real option but it's an iconic and typically outlandish design, so a great addition to the fleet.
The Jeanne d'Arc didn't serve in the Mediterranean until 1905, when she was recommissioned as flagship of the light squadron, but I can get round that with a little 'What Iffery?'
This is next month's painting project, which I will kick off in a couple of weeks, starting with the protected and armoured cruisers, most of which are already assembled, based, base textured and undercoated, ready for some black and buff blocking in.
