The rules for bombing stuff in Algy are sketchy to say the least, which has led me down the path of trying to fill in some of the gaps and add some detail, hopefully without over complicating things. The basic mechanics are fairly simple and should be easy enough to use but I'm working on some modifiers to the 2D6+/- luck roll to hit the target, as it seems a bit crude.
So far I've thought of damage to the aircraft, being under flak from flak, the pilot being wounded, having a bomb aimer, the size of type of target and possibly also altitude. These modifiers would be added or subtracted from the 2D6 die roll with a natural roll of 12 being an automatic hit, the usual roll required being 9+.
I'm also thinking of giving targets a hit rating that would be required to damage or knock it out of action, depending on what it was and the number of bombs dropped, although this is still a bit of a grey area. It would probably be a scenario specific thing but could also be extrapolated for pick up games where some generic guidelines might be handy?
