AK47 Republic Revisited

I really enjoyed the AK47 game the other day, so I've been thinking ahead and already have some ideas for another game at some point later in the year. I think I've exhausted the potential for games based on the disputed border zone, so I've been looking for alternatives for the pre-game blurb that I like to hammer away at on the laptop before a game.

I've always wanted to make some more terrain for AK47, which I did a long time ago but didn't finish off, so I'm thinking of adding a few more items to the terrain collection specifically aimed at a scenario plot. The thing I've always fancied doing is an airstrip and airport, with a runway and hangers, not to mention a terminal building and helipad for quick getaways.

Luckily, I can find a hanger from the Blotz 15mm laser cut range and some resin Nissen huts from The Scene, so that bit is covered. I even have a 15mm(ish) cheapo screw together New Ray C-47 that I can paint up in suitably knackered Air Mbote livery, together with a crashed version when the AAA has had a good day. An airstrip runway is also easy to do.

A terminal building is more of a challenge and will probably have to be scratch built, although one option would be to convert a 15mm Blotz cinema into something art deco. In another lucky twist, there's a brilliant guide to scratch building a 28mm version of the Entebbe terminal by Matakishi, which I can easily scale down and convert to 15mm, using card rather than cork tile.

It may or may not happen...but there's a scenario storyline in there already!

  1. What about the airfix 1/76 control tower and a model railway building.

    Look forward to your build

    Cheers

  2. Jim,

I'm currently working on an AK47 campaign module that I hope to go to print before the end of the year. Would you guys be interested in playing testing it?

  3. The New Ray planes paint very well and I have a few in my collection. Have you thought of using a C-47 in a gunship role like the "Puff the Magic Dragons" of the Vietnam Conflict?
