I didn't feel like painting today, so I had a go at converting a Tumbling Dice Solferino into the Peropavlovsk, one of two early Russian broadside ironclads. This involved sanding down the hull to make it a single decker, adding a plastic card fillet under the hull then filling in what was left of the lower gun ports with green filler, followed by modifying the masts into something like the correct layout. It's not bad but hardly accurate as there’s still a little too much freeboard and the mast spacing isn’t quite right. I also have a big question mark over the number of funnels, which I assumed would be single based on the configuration of her sister ship, the Sevastopol. I'm going to have a crack at that another time, as those US monitors won't paint themselves!
