I added a few details to the patrol boat today, including a couple of masts made from the wheel-along axles and a raft from a piece of Lego, then spray undercoated everything in Halfords Matt Black.
This afternoon, I wetbrushed a 50/50 mix of GW Shadow Grey and Adeptus Battlegrey over the hull and superstructure, followed by a drybrush of 50:50 GW Fortress Grey and Shadow Grey. This was finished off with a light highlight drybrush of Foundry Arctic Grey Shade.
The decking was then painted in Foundry Tan Shade with a Tan highlight. The windows in the wheelhouse were then painted in Foundry Sky Blue Shade and Sky Blue. I've left it to dry off and will give the whole thing an overall wash of Future based gunge before tackling the details.
I'm hoping to finish this by the end of the weekend so that I can get on with the AK47 basing.
Having seen a number of these closeup over the years, you can't go too crazy with the rust streaks and rub marks for an authentic look!
ReplyDelete...and I think your conversion is coming along beautifully too!
ReplyDeleteExecellent Job Jim! I looked at using one those models when I built my AK-47 navy and couldn't work out the scale so plumped for a 1/96 plastic model yours looks much better and is probably a lot sturdier too. Well done.
