I have been scratching my head over the terrain to use with Strontium Dog, which requires a basic 3' x 3' area for skirmish scenarios. I was planning to make a terrain board for this and may well still do so but, in the meantime, I remembered that I had a second hand Deep Cut Studio vinyl desert mat in a cardboard tube somewhere in the garage. I dug it out and found it was 4' x 4', so have cut it down to size.
I think whoever bought this first time round decided that it was too shiny, as it does reflect a bit when under artificial light, but I'm not too bothered and it will be more than suitable as a starting point. I've also kept the offcuts to use underneath any buildings or terrain pieces, suitably trimmed to size and stuck down to laser cut base templates so that they match the desert mat surface. I'd much prefer a cloth rather than vinyl but beggars can't be choosers!

I've made 9 sand tiles from mdf to get a 3x3 board for 15mm fantasy - I didn't realise that would do for SD as well
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be the default for this sort of thing these days?
