I'm umpiring a game of Broadside and Ram at the club tomorrow, although I'm actually hoping to get two games in to the evening, one a warmer upper and the other a proper battle. The former will be the Hunt the Rochambeau! scenario that I wrote and played solo a while back, as it only features a couple of ships per side and is ideal as an introduction to the rules. However, I will give the French a better chance of escaping this time round by uprating the Rochambeau's armour and substituting HMS Warrior for HMS Minotaur
The second, larger game will be a re-play of the Battle of the Baie d'Audierne scenario that I also devised and soloed last year, as a larger action with a several ships for each player to control. In fact, if I finish the Prince Consort class broadside ironclads today, I'm thinking of adding them as a second division for the RN player, rather than just having the one, although they may just arrive as reinforcements during the game rather than deploying at the start. It should be a good test of my rules tweaks and the QRS that I've produced, especially as both players are naval wargaming grognards.
