After some thought I've decided to make the Russo-Japanese War a project for next year, using the excellent Tumbling Dice 1/2400th ships and both Tsushima and Broadside and Salvo, White Bear, Red Sun for the rules. This is not a new idea, as it is what I initially planned to do when the Tumbling Dice models were first available a few years ago, but it's something I've always wanted to tackle. I'm particularly keen to have a go at something historical rather than counterfactual for a change, so it's an ideal option, although the Sino-Japanese War was also a contender. I have quite a few of the models already and will be filling out the fleets for both sides in the run-up to 2023. I'm also planning to make some new coastal terrain modules for this, which can double up for other periods, as my desert themed Chilean coastline really isn't a good fit. I'm looking forward to getting this project underway, probably as the first thing on my 'to do' list in the New Year.
Very interesting project for me as I am doing the same thing, only using Navwar 1/3000 ships. I am currently painting both sides. Be interested to hear how you are getting on
