I'm currently painting a couple of 1/600th scale Fokker DrI triplanes in Jasta 11 colours - one the iconic red and green triplane of Manfred Von Richtofen and the other a yellow tailed scout of ten victory ace Werner Steinhäuser.
I'm really enjoying the colourful paint schemes which make a change from the bog standard PC 10 of the RFC, so will be adding more Jasta 11 triplanes to expand the project. The Jasta 11 triplanes all had standard red cowlings and undercarriages but also numerous variations of fuselage bands, upper wing and tail plane colours.
I have researched at least half a dozen more schemes and have eight models to assemble, so a good starting point for some enjoyable painting over the next couple of weeks. It's a change from my usual generic camouflage and insignia approach and will be great for historical scenarios involving Jasta 11 and the 'Flying Circus'.
