Tomorrow is the second International Naval Wargaming Day, so I've been scratching my head to think of a game that I can play to celebrate the event. As my holiday time thus far has been taken up with visits from relatives and camping, including having some of my wife's nieces to stay over this weekend, I haven't been able to do any preparation for INWarD 2018. In particular, I haven't had the time to paint any of the 1/2400th scale Tumbling Dice ironclads that I've brought along to complete.
Nonetheless, I do have the models with me, so I thought I'd set up a game featuring a clash between elements of the Royal Navy's 'Black Battlefleet' Channel Squadron and the French ironclad fleet, at some fictitious point in the early 1870's. This might involve only one or two warships a side, as I haven't tried out the Broadside and Ram rules yet and there may be a steep(ish) learning curve? Ideally, I'd use Dahlgren and Columbiad or Iron and Fire but I haven't got those rules with me at the moment.
