The reason I've been working out the Bag the Hun scenarios over the holidays is that I've volunteered to run a couple of games at the Sarisbury Green club Lard Day in March. The organiser, Mark Backhouse, invited me to attend so I thought it would be only fair if I offered to run a game for the day, as he was looking for a few more to fill some gaps. It now looks like he's got more then enough games and plenty of players, so I'm sure it will be a splendid day out, especially if you are a Chain of Command or Sharp Practice fan.
There's another separate Bag the Hun game running on the day but I'm hoping that I'll get some players for my scenarios, if only for one of the two sessions. I'll definitely be umpiring the Berlin '45 game, which I may well re-name 'Bogeys Over Berlin' or something similar, just to make it more funky. If there's demand, I will also run a second game which will be either the 'S-Boot Strike' scenario or, if that doesn't work out in playtesting, an off the shelf scenario from my archives, most likely the 'Special Delivery' Malta game that is published in one of the Too Fat Lardies Specials.
Tally Ho!
Bag the Hun intrigues me...if I lived in the UK vs here in the States I'd definitely come give it a try.
ReplyDeleteIt's a cracking game...! You can always grab a pdf copy and take a closer look. If you go for 1/600th scale it's also really inexpensive to get a decent set of aircraft to play it with.
ReplyDeleteJim, looks like a great day out. is this Sarisbury Green on the Hamble River in Hampshire? My dad lives in Warsash and I hadn't realized that there was a gaming group nearby.
ReplyDeleteHi Peter, just seen your post. The club meets every Thursday evening in Sarisbury Social Club. It's tucked away in the corner of the cricket green opposite the tennis courts. Usually about 5 or 6 games going on. Come along and introduce yourself. Usually pretty traditional stuff, though there's a few Warhammer fans as well.
DeleteOh, and there's a bar!
DeleteName's Bob, don't know why I'm 'unknown'...
DeleteThanks for the info Bob. I’m Canadian and visit my dad every year or so. Will check you out nex time im over if the timing works
DeleteYes it's down that way..not sure exactly where but in the Fareham area.
ReplyDeleteJim, this is James C who penned the BTH scenarios in the latest annual. I have a complete mid-1944 Luftwaffe vs B-17s scenario that did not make it into the Annual called Aluminum Overcast. Contact me at jwctx3@gmail.com and I’ll send it to you for your thing next month. /r JWC
ReplyDeleteThanks James,
ReplyDeleteThat would be great. I was working on a B17 scenario a while back but didn't finish it off, or the painting of the models. I really should get them done!
Incidentally, how do you resolve air gunners and fire factors, targeting etc. That bit had me tied up in knots ie which positions can fire at which targets, can anyone aircraft fire in different directions at the same time eTc?
Like I said, email me at jwctx3@gmail.com and I'll send you what I've got
ReplyDeleteAs a newcomer to Bag the Hun I've read through most of your 400 posts on the subject but can't find anything relating to the hex mat you use 😁 I'm just contemplating giving the game a go but although the planes from Tumbling Dice are nice and cheap, the only hex mat I can find comes in at over £50. A sizeable outlay for a game I'm not sure I'll stick with as I've yet to play it. Any cheap alternatives that you're aware of? Or have I got to bite the bullet?
