I've been drip feeding lead into my 15mm Spanish Civil War pile over the last few weeks and have now, finally, added pretty much all of the options for my Republican Mixed Brigade orbat. I have finished off with some heavy artillery from the Irregular Miniatures Really Useful Gun range including two 120mm Schneider Howitzers, which are an indulgence as they don't actually appear on table. I have also added a battalion of anarchist militia using the generic figures from Peter Pig, just for a bit of variety and to add a dash of colour, although I suspect they might be more of a headache than an asset when the bullets start to fly?
Finally, I have just ordered a couple of packs of cavalry in helmets, together with a horse holder and horses from the WW2 German range, to use as scout squadrons instead of the armoured cars. The horses are really not needed but I like to depict them in some way for appearances sake. The cavalry dismount in combat, so I will use some of the surplus kneeling infantry in helmets that I already have for the foot bases, doing a crafty paint conversion to give them riding boots. I was sorely tempted to get some Assault Guards instead of the cavalry but I have enough figures already and I don't need any more whistles or bells!

DeleteI have lots of the RUG artillery, including those Schneiders. Who cares if you can't put them on the table? You can stand them on the edge and look threatening.

DeleteYou are not alone there. I remember playing in a Reloaded game when Martin unveiled it at COW. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in my entire life.
