It's a real shame but my son, who is in the upper sixth and studying towards his A level finals, has had to pull out of the Come and Have a Go If You Think You're Lard Enough? day, where he had two fantastic game slots lined up. This would have been his first experience of a Lard event and would have been brilliant, especially as one of the games was a Chain of Command scenario run by no less than Mr Richard Clarke himself!
Instead, he has to go on an A level Environmental Science field trip to the wilds of mid-Wales, albeit one in which he will be the only male student amidst a throng of girls. He's obviously gutted about the Lard Day but these things can't be avoided, as he needs the fieldwork experience for his exams and will be taking Environmental Science for his degree. I'm hoping he will be able to attend the next Lard Day event, which I'm sure will be happening in 2021 assuming that Mark hasn't had enough by then?!
These things happen, hope the field trip goes well!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't feel too sorry for him - it sounds like there will be plenty of compensating advantages to the field trip.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed.
