I got home from work today and had a couple of hours to spare, so decided to knock together another technical for my AK47 militia unit. I had the wheels left over from the ZPU4 and reckoned I could use them to replace the pastic wheels on a diecast truck. I had a rummage in the toy box and found this cheap chinese tanker lorry that I'd found at some point and put away for just such an occasion.
I stripped off the plastic flatbed and tank then removed the wheels. I cut new axles from brass rod and glued them in place before adding the metal wheels from the ZPU4. After that I cut a new flatbed out of plastic card, scored some planking and added some strips of plastic card around the edges. This was followed by some Peter Pig machine guns, some gun crew and some crates, boxes and baggage.
I'm quite pleased with the end result and will have a crack at painting it up tomorrow, along with General Mpongo's GAZ 69 staff car, when I get back from Warfare. It's now been spray undercoated ready for painting up. I'll have a word with the Peter Pig people tomorrow about doing some packs of truck wheels in the odds and ends range, as well as some seated hardened miltia.
Wow, this looks seriously good!
ReplyDeleteHave to admire your magpie ability to grab things for future possible use.
